Sofia’s photographs are born from a desire to paint — they seek the same intensity and attention to detail as a hyperrealist or surrealist canvas. Her visual research centers on the idea of place as physical, mental and emotional space. Her practice grows out of slow observation and listening to spaces: places crossed, lost or internalized, never truly possessed, yet capable of generating memory, imagination and reflection — with particular attention to social and anthropological themes.

In her work, light, colour and matter take centre stage, giving rise to essential, silent images and landscapes that move between intimacy and the urban scene, between the pictorial and the metaphysical. The image becomes a perceptual experience rather than a simple representation — a threshold between what is visible and what remains invisible.

She collaborates with artists and professionals across contemporary art, photography, film and sculpture. Winner of national and international awards, she exhibits in private galleries and public exhibition spaces, and teaches photography and visual communication at university level.
